ASA Staff publish new AI Ethics & Equity Chapter
ASA Partner Sung-Woo Cho and ASA Senior AI Analyst Nathan Greenstein just published a chapter in a newly released book from Taylor & Francis entitled, “Artificial Intelligence and Evaluation: Emerging Technologies and Their Implications for Evaluation.” Their book chapter, “Ethics and Equity in Data Science for Evaluators,” focuses on the ethical and equitable use of AI in evaluation settings – both in evaluating the use of AI in social science research and exploring how AI can be used to assist researchers in their own evaluation projects. The book chapter also offers use cases, common definitions, and a framework for researchers on how to think through the use of AI in their own evaluations.
Other chapters in the book cover a wide array of AI-related issues in research and evaluation, from using AI for real-time feedback systems to exploring implications on data governance. The book provides a rich collection of case studies, practical tools, and theoretical insights designed to inspire evaluation practitioners and scholars. By integrating new AI technologies, the authors and editors aim to enhance decision-making, improve data quality, and introduce innovative approaches that make evaluation more efficient and impactful.
